George Floyd was not an innocent man! He put a gun to a pregnant woman’s stomach and he had drugs. He and the cop also have hated each other for many years.
Yes, I agree he shouldn’t have been killed the way he was killed. But he’s not a saint, and y'all need to understand that. I’m black, and I’m all for BLM, but don’t make George Floyd the face of innocent people killed. He wasn’t innocent.
This right here is a perfect example of respectability politics, and why Black people are being gaslighted into thinking that we must live angelic lives in order for us to be seen as human and worthy of basic respect.
Everyone has a past that they evolve from. George Floyd wasn’t perfect, and neither are you, because perfection doesn’t exist. Digging up someone’s past as a means to debunk the fight for injustice is a representation of your lack of empathy and overall psychotic disregard for black lives. It’s disgusting. Find another hill to die on.
